“Travel becomes a strategy for accumulating photographs.”
– Susan Sontag
We have long been photography hobbiests and enthusists, loving the ability to capture a moment in time. Combined with our love for travel and experiencing our world, we have come to realize the passion that we share for travel photography.
Not only are pictures of your trip reminders of the special places you’ve seen, the landmarks you’ve visited, or the people that you met along the way, they are a way to preserve your memories for later recollection and for sharing with your friends and families. The old adage of a picture being worth a 1,000 words totally applies when it comes to travel photography as well.
Looking back on images captured during a trip can remind me of sounds and smells in a market, of a delicious meal, of the sound of the waves and smell of the ocean, and of new people I’ve met and new friends that we’ve made.
Photography is an amazing way to combine your creative side with a technical discipline that can be as simple or as challenging as you wish. However, today’s camera technology, including the one in your pocket called a mobile phone, provides an avenue for even the least technical among us to take amazing pictures to document our journeys around the world.
A lot has been written about travel photography and there are many approaches and opinions out there. Our hope is that we can help you sift through the information and provide you with enough tips and techniques to support you in capturing amazing images, in your own style, with a camera of your choice, while you travel the world. Happy snapping.
